Overview
This will be a highly visible position dedicated to;
- Ensuring Harbour BioMed further builds its partnering and collaboration efforts with universities, non-profit organizations and biotech/pharma companies, and
- Licensing and acquisition of novel therapeutics from various sources.
The primary objective of this role will be to further entrench Harbour BioMed in key biotech clusters to gain access to leading science and technology, enhance reputation of Harbour BioMed. The role will entail scouting for cross-therapeutic scientific collaboration opportunities, negotiating deals, working closely with internal scientists, strategic planning and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Help develop and implement partnering strategy with universities, non-profit organizations and biotech/pharma companies for Harbour BioMed
- Identifying licensing and acquisition opportunities for novel therapeutics and executing deals.
- Engage and lead internal and external people and resources to demonstrate Harbour BioMed’s advantages to external partners such as academic institutions, non-profit organizations and biotech/pharmaceutical companies.
- Identify and develop new strategic collaboration opportunities to help Harbour BioMed achieve its scientific and corporate objectives
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure Harbour BioMed’s collaborations are coordinated across functions and aligned to overarching partnering strategy
- Lead outreach and negotiations of these collaborations with both internal stakeholders and stakeholders to close the alliance deals and manage the relationship
- Evaluate alliance and partnership trends and provide analysis and recommendations to management
- Build strong relationships with various partners in emerging markets
- Expected very much to be a “hands on role” i.e. able to work independently but with the ability to lead a matrix group and/or to proactively and meaningfully participate in other group led discussions.
- Complete negotiations and transactions for R&D and clinical collaborations
- To be up to date with the latest science and literatures and to be able to engage in the science with our scientific teams
- Travel 25% of time
Required Experience:
- 4+ years of business transaction experience including in-licensing transactions and tech-transfer experience
- Proficiency in understanding of contracts
- Ability to assess and determine critical issues in executing deals
- An organizational skill set to handle multi-tasking work-loads
- Business acumen and ability to negotiate deals
- Fundamental understanding of drug development and therapeutic areas of interest to Harbour BioMed
- Functional expertise in collaborations, business development, project management,
- Manage competing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload as needs evolve across projects
- Operate independently with high level of integrity; individual will be frequently working with multiple external stakeholders including academia and government-based organizations
- Cross‐functional working experience in a matrix environment
- Team player with excellent communication and writing skills

- Ability to work in a fast-changing environment and eagerness to learn new things.
Education:
- BA or BS required; science based degrees preferred
- MBA and/or PhD preferred
